Abstract
In order to explain the dependence of the distribution coefficient (D) between water and three different chlorinated solvents (methylene chl oride, chloroform and 1,2-dichloroethane) of some alpha-amino acids (L -leucine, L-tryptophane, phenylalanine, methionine, valine and isoleuc ine), as supramolecular complexes of [EC...R-CH-(NH3)-COOH](+)A(-)type , (EC = 18-C-6; A(-) = the anion originated in tropaeoline 00), a corr elation was performed by means of a multilinear regression analysis be tween different characteristics of the alpha-amino acids (pKa(1), pKa( 2), pI, pi, log P) and some of the characteristics of the solvents inv olved (E-T, epsilon, gamma, mu, log P, Sigma alpha(2)(H) Sigma alpha(2 )(H), Sigma beta(2)(H) pi(2)(H), R-2(H)). This study evidenced a good correlation (r > 0.81) between some of the characteristics of alpha-am ino acids (pi, pI, pKa(2), and of the solvent (Sigma beta(2)(H), pi(2) (H), R-2(H) or Sigma alpha(2)(H)), just mentioned.
