Abstract
For monitoring temporal modulation of a laser-generated asymmetric (a( 0)) Lamb wave, a non-contact fibre optic sensor has been used. Simulta neously, an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) sensed in-plane acoustic transients of the symmetric (s(0)) Lamb wave. Measurements i n 75 mu m thick aluminium film show that a(0) amplitude modulation is associated with a perturbation from the symmetric wave.
