Abstract
The authors have reduced the temperature dependence of the mean wavele ngth of an erbium-doped superfluorescent fibre source to below 0.08p,m /degrees C (0.05ppm/degrees C) using a long period fibre grating. This is greater than a 100-fold improvement on the 9.6pm/degrees C (6.2ppm /degrees C) intrinsic temperature dependence of the source.
