Abstract
A wide-bandwidth, optically pre-amplified receiver at 10Gbit/s is demo nstrated in the 1575-1600nm wavelength range using a gain-shifted EDFA for the first time. It offers a sensitivity of better than -38.0dBm a t a bit error rate of 10(-9).
