Abstract
It is shown that for delta-sigma (Delta Sigma) frequency-to-digital co nversion (FDC) there is no need for a Delta Sigma modulator, since a l imited FM signal itself may be considered as an asynchronous Delta Sig ma bit-stream. By feeding the limited FM signal directly to a sinc(2) Delta Sigma decimator, a triangularly weighted zero-crossing counter F DC is introduced, providing Delta Sigma noise shaping. The results mea sured confirm the theory.
