Solid complexes between gliclazide and beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) wer
e prepared by kneading, coprecipitation, neutralization, co-grinding a
nd spray-drying. Characterization of glicrazide-beta-CD inclusion comp
lexes was performed using X-ray diffractometry and cross polarizing/ma
gic angle spinning C-13-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. These
techniques have clearly demonstrated the existence of solid-state inc
lusion compound formation. The complexes, obtained by neutralization a
nd spray-drying methods, showed enhanced dissolution rates of gliclazi
