3- or N-Substituted liquid crystalline pyrroles with a cyclohexylpheny
l or a biphenyl as a mesogenic core were synthesized and polymerized g
iving soluble and fusible polypyrroles. In case of poly(3- or N-substi
tuted pyrrole)s, some mesophases were observed by polarization microsc
opy. The cast films of poly(3-substituted pyrrole)s showed electrical
conductivities of 10(-4)-10(-7) Scm(-1) upon iodine doping.
