L. Dupont et M. Amar, FROM THE HOSPITAL TO THE HOSPITAL - REFLE CTIONS ABOUT THE PSYCHIC ASPECTS OF REHOSPITALIZATION FOR BABIES WHO WERE BORN PREMATURELY, La Psychiatrie de l'enfant, 40(2), 1997, pp. 571-598
Through the use of four clinical examples, we would like to demonstrat
e that the parents of former premature children frequently have a tran
sferential-type relationship with the hospital to which the children o
ften have recourse, in that this institution finds itself in the posit
ion of a grand super-ego. Such being the case, an analysis of this see
ms pertinent to us in order to clarify the parent-child interrelations
hips. The basic idea is to transform hospitalizations which seem ''unu
seful'' to the hospital personnel into profitable occasions if it is p
ossible at this time, with the help of the ward psychologist and child
psychiatrist, to begin work which will allow the families to achieve
different interactive functioning.
