Recent studies have shown that photochemical conversion of poly-p-para
phenylene vinylene (PPV) is easily achieved. In this work, photoconver
sion is optimized by monitoring the substrate temperature and the dura
tion of the illumination period by means of the UV-Vis absorption. Sig
nificant differences in optical absorption, Raman scattering are obser
ved between the optimized photoconverted PPV and the fully thermally c
onverted one.
