Abstract
The core structure of a [100] dislocation in Ni3Al is studied within t he framework of the generalized Peierls model. It is shown for a 45 de grees dislocation that for specific energies of unstable stacking gamm a(0) less than or equal to 2 J m(-2) the dissociation a[100]double rig ht arrow a/2[101]+a/2[10 (1) over bar] will not occur and within a rea sonable range of gamma(0) above 2 J m(-2) never takes place completely .
