We discuss new conjugated materials which are formally derived from cl
assical polymers such as PPP, PPV and PAni. In this context strategies
for the systematic separation of dipoles in PPV's, the planarization
of PPP-type structures and the design of two-dimensional molecular obj
ects differing in size and shape are presented. The new quality of our
approaches is the availability of well-defined and readily processibl
e materials with tailor-made electronic properties.
