Abstract
Self-assembled monolayers of alkanethiols on gold inhibit the electroo xidative deposition of polypyrrole and polyaniline. Oxidation of anili ne at an electrode modified with mu m-scale regions of ethanethiol and 12-aminododecanethiol results in selective deposition of polyaniline on the hydrophobic short chain alkanethiol.
