Abstract
The structure of polymethylphenylsilane (PMPS) was modified by chlorom ethylation and then condensation with sodium salt of Disperse Red-1 (D R-1). The product (PMPS-DR1) shows a broad absorption in the wavelengt h of 400-700nm, and exhibits glass transition at ca. 155 degrees C. Ph otoconductivity of a 2 mu m thick film made of PMPS-DR1 was measured t o be in the range of 10(-13)similar to 10(-11) Scm(-1), and electric f ield dependent. After electrical poling, the film shows electro-optica l effect with r(33)=0.8pm/V.
