Abstract
The structural characteristics of the Al4Cr epsilon phase have been di scussed on the basis of the experimental results by transmission elect ron microscopy in comparison with the structure of the Al-Cr-Ni kappa phase. Electron diffraction experiment shows that the Al4Cr epsilon ph ase is structurally related to the Al-Cr-Ni kappa phase. it is suggest ed that the structure of the epsilon phase may consist of the similar atom cluster as that derived from the structure of the kappa phase. Hi gh-resolution electron micrograph of the Al4Cr epsilon phase has been used to reveal the arrangement of the atom clusters. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
