Sa. Cheng et al., ELECTROCHEMICAL PERFORMANCE OF METAL HYDRIDE NEGATIVE ELECTRODE MODIFIED WITH BISMUTH OXIDE, Journal of alloys and compounds, 264(1-2), 1998, pp. 104-106
Negative electrodes were made from the hydrogen storage alloy MlNi(3.4
5)(CoMnTi)(1 55) (Ml-La-Rich misch metal) modified by mixing it with b
ismuth oxide. The discharge capacity and the high-rate dischargeabilit
y of the modified electrode were greatly increased due to the reaction
that reduced bismuth oxide to nodular bismuth during the first chargi
ng reaction resulting in an increase of the electrical conductivity an
d the improvement of the electrocatalytic activity of the electrode. (
