In this investigation we present results of lattice parameter measurem
ents of whiskers and needle-like crystals of TiNx,TiCx and Ti (C,N) so
lid solutions of varying composition. Precise values of the lattice pa
rameters were determined for the temperature range 293-600 K. For the
stoichiometric crystals the real values were obtained by introducing d
ifferent corrections of systematic errors. The thermal expansion coeff
icients in the whole range of TiN-TiC compositions were determined and
also a polynomial fitting alpha = f[C/C + N] is given. (C) 1998 Elsev
