A wax inhibitor gene W1(I) was located on the short arm of chromosome
2B in near-isogenic line ANK-26A. This gene was introgressed into ANK-
26A from Polish wheat Triticum polonicum L. It was shown that the W1(I
) gene was identical to a wax inhibitor gene from tetraploid wheat T.
aethiopicum Jakubz. (k-19302) and was not allelic to the w1 gene contr
olling glossiness in common wheat cultivar Salmon.
