The effect of aging on the transport properties of PANI-HCl was studie
d as a function of the morphology and of the environmental conditions.
DC conductivity sigma(dc) studies and spin dynamic methods (NMR and E
SR) on aged polyaniline point to the fact that a large decay of the co
nductivity takes place at a macroscopic scale whereas only a slight de
crease of the intrachain conductivity sigma(intra) is seen at a micros
copic level. Thermal studies under air and nitrogen atmospheres of pol
yaniline doped with new families of dopant show an important enhanceme
nt of the thermostability of protonated polyaniline.
