A. Scaloni et al., A NEW SYRINGOPEPTIN PRODUCED BY A PSEUDOMONAS-SYRINGAE PV. SYRINGAE STRAIN ISOLATED FROM DISEASED TWIGS OF LAUREL, Physiological and molecular plant pathology, 51(4), 1997, pp. 259-264
A new syringopeptin was purified from a culture of Pseudomonas syringa
e pv. syringae NCPPB 3869 isolated from laurel and its structure deduc
ed by mass spectrometry and Edman degradation. It differs from syringo
peptin 25A only for the C-terminal amino acid residue, which is Phe in
stead of Tyr. The phytotoxicity and some other biological activities o
f the new metabolite are comparable to those of syringopeptin 25A. (C)
