H. Matsuda et al., SYNTHESIS AND NONLINEAR-OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF A NEW POLYDIACETYLENE DERIVATIVE HAVING SULFUR ATOM DIRECTLY BOUND TO THE MAIN-CHAIN, Synthetic metals, 84(1-3), 1997, pp. 909-910
In order to reduce the band gap of polydiacetylene, a new class of pol
ydiacetylene derivative having sulfur atom directly bound to the main
chain was synthesized. The solid state polymerization of the new diace
tylenes occurs in the manner of the topochemical and topotactic 1,4-ad
dition reaction. The evidence of the electron donating effect of the s
ulfur atoms of the polydiacetylenes is obvious in the red shift of the
absorption maximum and the asymmetrical bond length alternation of th
e main chain.
