This paper reports results of the studies of accessory minerals in ult
rabasic rocks of the ophiolite complex in Southern Tuva and Salair. It
has been shown for the first time that serpentinites from massifs of
ultrabasic rocks contain accessories such as rutile, sphene, zircon, p
hosphates and other minerals nonspecific (polar) for ultrabasic rocks.
Data on their chemical composition are reported, paragenetic relation
s between them are revealed, and some mineral forms are described. Thi
s information is used for interpretation of genesis of serpentinites.
It has been shown that the presence in serpentinites of polar accessor
ies may be a clue for solving the problem of ophiolites in folded regi
on.
