A comparative investigation of the electrode behavior and microstructu
re of MeSi2-Si and MeGe2-Ge (Me = Fe, Co) eutectics was carried out in
sulfuric acid, either containing an admixture of NaF (50-100 mM) or n
ot. It was found that the MeGe2-Ge alloys have a lower anodic stabilit
y than the MeSi2-Si ones, the selective dissolution of the Ge-phase be
ing characteristic of the anodic process. A considerably decreased ano
dic stability of the MeSi2-Si alloy was observed in fluoride-containin
g media, the MeSi2-phase being selectively dissolved in distinction fr
om the MeG(2)-Ge alloy.
