The principles of operation of cycled air electrodes with additives pr
eventing anodic oxidation of carbon materials are considered. Methods
for selection of these additives based on their physical and electroch
emical properties are suggested. The mechanism of the charging and dis
charge of the metal-air cell is described. With an example of a labora
tory model of a zinc-air cell the action of the hydroxide of nickel in
the highest oxidation state is tested.
