Abstract
The use of silicalite, a zeolitic form of silica, is suggested as a me ans of purifying samples prior to the determination of chlorinated bip henyls (CBs), particularly those which are heavily contaminated with p etroleum derived n-alkanes. Experiments using mussel, fish and sedimen t extracts show that CBs are recovered quantitatively after silicalite treatment of lipid extracts. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
