Abstract
Pharmaceutically useful chloro alcohols, 3-chloro-1-phenyl-1-propanol( 1), 1-chloro-3-(1-naphthyloxy)-2-propanol (2) and 4-chloro-1-(4-tert-b utylphenyl)-1-butanol (3), are prepared in enantiomerically pure form by an efficient lipase PS catalyzed transesterification in heptane. Th e effect of organic solvent nature on enzyme activity was also studied .
