Abstract
Quantitiative P-31-NMR examination of the hydrolysis of dimethyl-H-pho sphonate using O-18-enriched water under base-catalysed conditions sup ports a mechanism involving exclusive [P-O] bond cleavage as opposed t o the alternative [C-O] bond cleavage.
