Lifetimes of the lower-excited states in Xe-122,Xe-124 are measured us
ing the recoil-distance Doppler-shift technique. The reactions Pd-110(
O-16,4n)Xe-122 and Pd-110(O-18,4n)Xe-124 at a beam energy of 66 MeV we
re used for this experiment. The lifetimes of the 2(+), 4(+), 6(+), an
d 8(+) states of the ground state band were extracted using the comput
er code LIFETIME including the corrections due to the side feeding and
the nuclear deorientation effects. The lifetime of the 2(+) state in
Xe-122 agrees with the recoil distance method (RDM) measurements but f
or the Xe-124 it does not agree with the RDM measurements but agrees w
ith the Coulomb-excitation experiment. The measured B(E2) values for b
oth the nuclei are compared with the standard algebraic and the multis
hell models.
