M. Ginoza et M. Yasutomi, EFFECTIVE INTERACTION POTENTIAL BETWEEN COLLOIDAL PARTICLES IN A SOLUTION, Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 66(12), 1997, pp. 3854-3858
In a solution containing microions from an added electrolyte, the effe
ctive interaction potential between colloidal particles is studied on
the basis of the primitive model. The approximation is employed that t
he correlations of solvent-particles with microions can he neglected,
and the potential is calculated with the use of the mean spherical app
roximation solution of the Ornstein-Zernike equation with the Yukawa c
losure. In the case of the hydrophobic colloid, the theory is discusse
d in comparison with the DLVO theory and a role of the solvent-mediate
d potential is emphasized.
