Sd. Lepicard et A. Canosa, MEASUREMENT OF THE RATE-CONSTANT FOR THE ASSOCIATION REACTION CH-2 AT53 K AND ITS RELEVANCE TO TRITONS ATMOSPHERE(N), Geophysical research letters, 25(4), 1998, pp. 485-488
The pulsed laser photolysis (PLP), time-resolved laser-induced fluores
cence (LIF) technique has been used to study the association reaction
CH + N-2 in a CRESU (Cinetique de Reaction en Ecoulement Supersonique
Uniforme) apparatus at 53 K and in the pressure range 0.46 mbar. The t
hird order rate constant was found to be k(0) = (5.7 +/- 0.30) x 10(-3
0) cm(6) s(-1). Consequences for the production of HCN in the atmosphe
re of Triton are discussed in light of this result.
