Abstract
The catalytic polarographic pre-wave of Ni(II) induced by the fungicid e thiabendazole [2-(4'-thiazolyl) benzimidazole] in a nitrate medium w as used to determine the pK(a) for protonated thiabendazole and the st ability constant for the Ni(II)-thiabendazole complex, beta(1L), in es sentially aqueous media. The values thus obtained at an ionic strength of 0.1 M and a temperature of 25 degrees C were pK(a) = 5.82 +/- 0.05 and log beta(1L)(0) = 3.17 +/- 0.07.
