Abstract
The Diels-Alder reaction of anthracene and maleic acid under ultrasoni c irradiation has been studied. For the 40-85 degrees C temperature ra nge and after ultrasonic intensity optimisation of the direct immersio n hem, a very significant acceleration of this reaction under ultrasou nd is noticed. Furthermore, with a cleaning bath, the reaction rate is not modified. The reaction mechanism agrees with a concerted mechanis m and excludes any electronic transfer.
