Abstract
The paper discusses the use of natural products and biological control agents in crop protection from an industrial viewpoint. The criteria which must be satisfied are noted. Examples are given from the genetic engineering of baculoviruses and proteins. The final section consider s the utility of natural products as a source of leads for conventiona l agrochemicals, and the screens needed. (C) 1998 SCI.
