Abstract
The trinuclear (chloro)gold(I) complex of the tritertiary phosphine Ph P[C6H4(PPh2)-2](2) was found to have a compact unsymmetrical structure in the crystalline state which is retained in solution owing to the f ixation of the gold atoms through intermetallic contacts.
