Abstract
A theoretical and experimental study of 14 MeV neutron production from thermal neutrons by using an in-core cylindrical converter has been p erformed. The characteristics of the 14 MeV neutron source were predic ted by means of Monte Carlo based code. The neutron flux density and e nergy dependent spectrum have been measured at the irradiation positio n by foil activation detectors. Measurements show that the efficiency of the hollow cylindrical (LiD)-Li-6 converter, under study, is of app roximately 1.3 10(-4) and a good agreement is obtained between experim ent and Monte Carlo calculation.
