The consequences of chronic asthma affect the individual, family, and
community in ways that cannot be taken lightly. Although most asthma c
are rests on the shoulders of the primary care practitioner, it is the
specialist who has the background and expertise to inform patients, t
he medical community, and the public-at-large about standards of thera
