Cp. Pardo et al., ESTIMATING THE ANGIOGRAPHIC RISK FROM ISO TOPIC VENTRICULOGRAPHY IN ISCHEMIC-HEART-DISEASE, Revista Clinica Espanola, 198(1), 1998, pp. 23-27
The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic accuracy o
f the ejection fraction (EF) measurement, calculated by isotopic ventr
iculography, to predict the angiographic risk in a group of patients w
ith previous acute myocardial infarction and significant segmentary di
sturbance of wall motility. A total of 125 patients were studied (100
males and 25 females, aged 23 to 78 years). Isotopic EF showed positiv
e and negative predictive values of 85% and 93.3%, respectively, for t
he low risk group. The corresponding values for the moderate risk grou
p (angiographic EF from 31% to 54%) were 80.3% and 79.6%. And for the
high risk group (angiographic EF < 31%) 89.4% and 83%. In conclusion,
from the present work we state that with a high probability isotopic E
F places each patient in his/her corresponding high, moderate, or low
angiographic (biological) risk.
