DETERMINATION OF FLECAINIDE ACETATE IN TABLETS BY HPLC AND UV-SPECTROPHOTOMETRY

Rapid, simple and accurate chromatographic (HPLC) and spectrophotometr ic methods for the determination of flecainide in tablets were elabora ted. Methanol was found to be a suitable extraction solvent. The sampl es were chromatographed on a LiChrosorb RP-18 column and the mobile ph ase was acetonitrile/phosphate buffer pH 2.9/methanol (3:1:6, v/v/v). Amiodarone was applied as an internal standard. The UV detection was c arried out at 254 nm. The HPLC method was tested for linearity (over t he range 4-20 mu g.ml(-1)). The recovery in HPLC was 99.27% (mean) and in the UV-spectrophotometry 100.68% (mean).
