F. Khalfi et al., COMPATIBILITY OF CEFPIROME AND CEPHALOTHIN WITH PVC BAGS DURING SIMULATED INFUSION AND STORAGE, Die Pharmazie, 53(2), 1998, pp. 112-116
The stability and compatibility of cefpirome and cephalothin injection
in 5% dextrose and 0.9% NaCl solutions with polyvinyl chloride contai
ners were studied. A rapid isocratic technique was developed for the a
nalysis of these drugs in parenteral solutions using a stability indic
ating HPLC assay with UV detection and CII column. No significant drug
loss was observed during the simulated infusions for 30 min and 1 h.
The results show the stability of drugs during storage over 8 or 24 h
at room temperature and 48 h at 4 degrees C to be satisfactory. In all
cases during simulated infusions and storage, no di-ethyl-hexyl-phtha
late was detected in cefpirome and cephalothin solutions.
