Abstract
Alkali-aggregate reactions (AAR)-induced effects are difficult to mode l due to the random distribution of the reactive sites and the imperfe ct knowledge of these chemical reactions. A new approach using fractur e mechanics and probabilities and capable of describing the anisotropi c swelling of a structure subjected to alkali-silica reaction is prese nted.
