Abstract
The published data on hydrogenating properties of mechanical alloys an d intermetallic compounds obtained by mechanical alloying or mechanica l treatment are surveyed. The mechanochemical methods are shown to be effective in solving a number of problems connected with metal and all oy hydrogenation as well as in synthesis of new hydrides and nanocompo site materials. A mechanism of hydrogenation of mechanical alloys is d iscussed.
