Abstract
ABRIXAS is an X-ray satellite with seven 27-fold nested Wolter-1 teles copes, sharing one pn-CCD detector in the focus. It will be launched i n spring of 1999. ABRIXAS will perform the first imaging all-sky surve y above 2 keV. During a three-year scanning mission it is expected to detect at least 10.000 new hard X-ray sources obscured by gas and dust clouds. It will also study large diffuse X-ray sources and the time v ariability of bright X-ray sources.
