Abstract
This correspondence considers the design of quadrature mirror filter ( QMF) banks whose analysis and synthesis filters are FIR and have linea r phase. The design criterion is of least-squares type, An iterative c omputation algorithm is proposed, and its convergence is pro,en that o ffers new insight to the design of QMF hanks and relates it to a more general nonlinear optimization problem.
