Abstract
A catalytic and efficient oxidative coupling of thiols to disulfides i s described using Cu(NO3)(2) . N2O4 as a new and efficient nitrosating agent in acetone at room temperature. The reaction is shown to occur immediately through the intermediacy of a thionitrite.
