Abstract
Low consistency refining of art Old Newspaper/Old Magazine deinked pul p was examined in pilot and mill Dials to define optimal intensity and energy requirements for maximum pulp property development. Results in dicate that low intensity refining (Specific edge load < 0.5 W.m/s and energy levels of 70-100 kWh/t) are required to maximize strength prop erties. Fractionation followed by refining of the long fibre fraction also showed large improvements in strength properties.
