T. Lantzsch et al., SACROSPINAL LIGAMENT FIXATION ACCORDING T O AMREICH RICHTER - A CLINICAL REPORT ON 116 CASES/, Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde, 58(1), 1998, pp. 63-66
From 1988 through March 1997 116 patients were treated by sacrospinal
ligament fixation according to Amreich/Richter at the Department of Gy
naecology of the University of Halle. The therapeutic indications were
prolapse of uterus and subtotal or total vaginal vault prolapse after
hysterectomy. In 115 cases the fixation was successful. Recurrent vau
lt prolapse occurred in one woman. We observed the following postopera
tive complications: urinary tract infection (10.3%), temporary irritat
ion of the sciatic nerve (8.6%), inability to void spontaneously (6%),
temporary urinary congestion of the right kidney (4.3%) and postopera
tive blood loss (4.3%). One female patient decreased 5 days postoperat
ively after cerebral infarction. Some of the advantages of vaginal sac
rospinal vault suspension are an uncomplicated approach, the possibili
ty of combination with additive operations, a high incidence of long-t
erm results and good acceptance by the patient. Sacrospinal vault susp
ension is an exacting operation with a long learning period.
