Abstract
The development of HURRICLON(R) outlet duct guide vanes has made it po ssible to achieve maximum energy savings both in, new plants and in re trofitted cyclone separators. The channel flow which this produces at the inlet area of the outlet duct guarantees large free flow spaces an d hence trouble-free operating characteristics. In practice it has bee n possible to obtain pressure drops which are up to more than 50 % les s than in conventional types of separator. With fairly large volume th roughputs it is possible to save about 1.0 million kWh/a if the cyclon e separators are retrofitted with HURRICLON(R) outlet duct guide vanes , and the extra costs are recovered within a year. Because of the ener gy savings the pay-back time for a dedusting plant using HURRICLON(R) technology is around 3 to 4 years.
