D. Gawin et al., CAVITATION MODELING IN SATURATED GEOMATERIALS WITH APPLICATION TO DYNAMIC STRAIN LOCALIZATION, International journal for numerical methods in fluids, 27, 1998, pp. 109-125
A model to simulate cavitation phenomena in the pores of saturated por
ous media is developed. Such phenomena appear in connection with pore
water traction, which may be observed during strain localization in de
nse sand samples or in dynamic fluid-structure interaction problems wh
ere the structure is made of geomaterials. The model makes use of an i
sothermal two-phase flow approach. Numerical examples relating to stra
in localization are shown. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
