The antigenic activity of experimental inactivated, concentrated, puri
fied adjuvant rabies vaccine prepared by the authors was investigated
in experiments on domestic dogs and compared with antigenic activity o
f commercial rabies preparations at intramuscular application. The eff
ectiveness of experimental vaccine was tested in domestic dogs also by
non-traditional intradermal method of application at varying doses (0
.1 and 0.2 cm(3)). The results of determination of tables antibodies b
y means of VNT and ELISA method at intramuscular administration of vac
cines revealed that the antigenic activity of the experimental vaccine
is comparable with that of commercial preparations. The effectiveness
of the experimental vaccine at intradermal administration at a dose o
f 0.2 cm(3) was even higher. The level of rabies antibodies was suffic
ient after as many as 15 months following the intradermal administrati
on of vaccine: in none of the experimental animals any values were det
ected. The dose of 0.1 cm(3), administered intradermally, cannot ensur
e adequate antirabies protection for the period of 15 months.
