In June, 1995 a postal questionnaire was distributed to all 232 women
who had an endometrial ablation at Monash Medical Centre between July,
1989 and December, 1994. Data was analyzed from the 149 who responded
. Length of followup ranged from 6 months to 6 years 6 months. Of thes
e 78% were satisfied with their ablation and 84% found their menses to
be Lighter or to have stopped. The repeat ablation rate was 13% and t
he hysterectomy rate was 17%.
