MALIGNANT MUCOCELE OF THE APPENDIX

A case of an appendiceal mucin secreting adenocarcinoma resulting in a large mucocele of the appendix with pseudomyxoma peritonei is reporte d. Preoperative pointers suggesting the diagnosis were computed tomogr aphy, a barium enema study, and a fine needle aspiration cytology, An extended right hemicolectomy was performed. The patient has been follo wed up for nearly nine months and is well.
